A broad legal background.
A disciplined approach.

I’m Zaf Shah, a solicitor and Senior Crown Prosecutor with a background spanning litigation, regulatory practice, public law, governance and NHS leadership.

I bring together forensic analysis, litigation strategy, advocacy and legal drafting. My approach is to identify the decisive issue, test the evidence and turn complex material into a reasoned course of action.

My career spans NHS senior management, contentious legal practice, institutional advice in higher education and prosecution. That breadth helps me connect the detail of an individual case with its wider legal, organisational and public interest consequences.

Justice and the rule of law are the principles that anchor my work.

LAW MEETS TECHNOLOGY

Innovation should
strengthen judgment.
And earn our trust.

I am developing a particular focus on responsible AI in prosecution and the wider justice system. The questions that interest me are practical ones.

01

Evidence integrity

How do we establish the provenance, reliability and limitations of material created or altered by AI?

02

Meaningful oversight

What does genuine human scrutiny look like when technology contributes to a consequential legal decision?

03

Accountable adoption

How can legal institutions use AI while preserving verification, clear responsibility and professional judgment?

These are personal areas of study and professional interest. They do not describe a CPS appointment, approved project, policy or operational use of AI.
