Privacy notice

Who is responsible

Zaf Shah is responsible for personal information received through enquiries to this personal website. Contact zaf@zafshah.com about privacy or your information.

Information and purposes

If you email me, I receive your email address, name if supplied, message and any attachments you choose to send. I use this information to respond, maintain relevant correspondence and handle any concerns. Please send only what is necessary. This contact address is not a channel for CPS cases or confidential legal instructions.

The site has no contact form, newsletter, advertising, visitor analytics or payment facility. Following an email link opens your email application and does not send a message until you choose to send it.

Lawful basis

I rely on legitimate interests to receive and respond to voluntary professional correspondence, manage relevant records and protect the website and correspondence against misuse. These interests are balanced against the sender’s privacy and reasonable expectations. Legal obligation may apply where information must be retained or disclosed by law. I do not use enquiries for mailing lists or automated decisions.

Service providers and sharing

Email providers process correspondence to deliver and store messages. The website hosting platform processes connection information, such as IP addresses and browser or security information, to serve and protect the site. The current private website is delivered through ChatGPT Sites and may require platform authentication. OpenAI’s handling of its platform data is described in its privacy policy. Provider processing may take place outside the UK; the provider notice explains its applicable transfer arrangements.

Information may be shared where necessary with a service provider, professional adviser, regulator or authority for a lawful purpose. Correspondence is not sold or supplied to advertisers. The Powered by More credit is a link to the website builder, not an enquiry forwarding mechanism.

Retention

Correspondence is retained for as long as needed to answer the enquiry, maintain an ongoing professional exchange or address a complaint or legal obligation. Retention depends on whether the matter remains active, whether a record is reasonably needed and whether a legal requirement applies. Information no longer needed should be deleted. Hosting and email providers apply their own retention arrangements to the records they control.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal information and may object to processing based on legitimate interests. These rights are subject to legal conditions. Contact zaf@zafshah.com to exercise them.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. You do not have to contact me first.
